Pick the right controller for your array

A solar charge controller sits between the PV array and the battery bank, regulating the charging current to keep cells within their voltage window and stop them from being over-discharged. Two algorithms dominate the market. PWM controllers connect the panel directly to the battery in fast pulses — simple, cheap, and perfectly adequate when the panel voltage already matches the battery and the array is small. MPPT controllers run an algorithm that finds the panel’s maximum-power-point and converts the harvested DC to battery voltage at up to 97.6% efficiency, recovering 20–30% more energy than PWM in cool weather or oversized arrays.

The Euronet range covers both. The PWM Controller is the workhorse for small 12V/24V systems with auto voltage detection, timer and light-control modes for off-grid lighting. The IP65-rated MPPT Controller scales from 30A to 60A with color LCD, RS485 and RJ45 ports, AL-alloy heat sink with cooling fan, and DC/AC surge protection — rated for outdoor installation. The MPPT Controller (Advanced) extends the same platform to higher-power arrays with optional string monitoring for multi-string PV systems and enhanced communication for smart energy management.

PWM — Pulse Width Modulation

Entry-level chargers that switch the panel directly onto the battery in fast pulses. Ideal for 12V/24V systems where the panel voltage already matches the battery, with auto-detection and multi-stage charging.

MPPT — Maximum Power Point Tracking

Algorithmic chargers that step panel voltage down to battery voltage at up to 97.6% efficiency — typically 20–30% more harvest than PWM in cool conditions or when panels are oversized for the battery bank.
