Why gel beats flooded lead-acid
Gel batteries are valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) cells in which the sulfuric-acid electrolyte is gelled with fumed silica. That single change — immobilising the electrolyte — eliminates the failure modes that plague flooded lead-acid: no acid stratification, no water top-ups, no hydrogen venting outside of overcharge, and no risk of acid spills if a cell is dropped or knocked over. The result is a sealed, maintenance-free battery that can be installed indoors, in any orientation, and ignored for years at a time.
The Euronet gel range covers 12V capacities from 50Ah to 250Ah across four series — Blue (general purpose), ECO (cost-optimised for budget solar), Gold (premium long-life) and Front-Terminal (rack-mount telecom and data centre). All cells use ABS UL94-HB containers, T14 or T9 terminals, and float-charge voltages of 13.5–13.8V compatible with every MPPT charge controller and hybrid inverter we sell. For climates where ambient temperatures push beyond what flooded lead-acid can survive, gel is the default choice.
Sealed & Spill-Proof
Thixotropic gel electrolyte is immobilised inside the cell. There is no liquid acid to spill, no water to top up, and no need for a vented battery room — install indoors, on shelves, in cabinets, or in the back of a vehicle.
Any Orientation
Sealed VRLA construction means cells can be installed upright, on their side, or stacked horizontally without electrolyte leakage — ideal for tight equipment cabinets and rack-mount telecom installations.
Climate-Hardened
Discharge temperature range of −40°C to +50°C and self-discharge of less than 6 months at 25°C make gel batteries the workhorse for desert, tropical and arctic standby installations.
Deep-Cycle Design
Engineered for repeated deep discharge cycles with high surge currents up to 1,200A for 5 seconds. T14 and T9 terminal options, ABS UL94-HB containers, and ISO 9001:2015 certified production.
