Why LiFePO4 has won daily-cycle storage
Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) is the chemistry of choice for any system that cycles its battery bank daily. The advantage over lead-acid is not marginal: a 51.2V LiFePO4 stack delivers 80% usable depth of discharge against 50% for premium gel, survives 6,000+ cycles against 1,500 for tubular lead-acid, and weighs roughly a third as much for the same usable kilowatt-hour. Inside three years of daily cycling, the higher up-front cost is amortised by the reduced replacement schedule alone.
