Where lead-acid still earns its place
Lithium iron phosphate has rightly taken over daily-cycle residential storage — but lead-acid is still the right answer for a substantial slice of real installations. Tropical off-grid, weekend cabins, low-cycle inverter backup, and distributed telecom standby are all duty profiles where the cycle-life premium of lithium does not pay for itself, and where lead-acid’s capex advantage, climate tolerance, and field-serviceability still matter. Tubular plate batteries specifically were engineered for solar deep-cycling: the tubular positive plate resists active material shedding far better than flat-plate construction, giving 1,500+ cycles at 80% DOD and 7–10 year service life under proper maintenance.
The Euronet lead-acid range covers the three formats that installers actually buy. Tubular C10 and C20 batteries are the workhorse for off-grid solar across MEA and South Asia, with C10 favoured for high-current charging windows and C20 for slower discharge profiles. Standard flooded lead-acid covers cost-sensitive UPS and inverter backup. Sealed lead-acid gel hybrids combine the affordability of flooded with the maintenance-free convenience of VRLA — ideal for indoor installations where venting is not an option.
Tubular Plate Construction
Tubular positive plates resist active material shedding under deep-cycle stress. The C10 rating optimises for high-current solar charging windows, the C20 rating for slower discharge across longer autonomy days.
Tropical & High-Temperature
Lead-acid is more tolerant of sustained high ambient temperatures than lithium for non-cycling standby use — a real-world advantage in unconditioned battery rooms across the Middle East and South Asia.
Capex-Friendly
For systems where the duty cycle is forgiving — weekend cabins, light backup, occasional inverter loads — flooded and sealed lead-acid still beats lithium on per-kWh installed cost by a wide margin.
Field-Serviceable
Flooded lead-acid cells are field-serviceable: replacement electrolyte is widely available, terminals can be re-leaded, and fault diagnosis with a hydrometer needs no specialised equipment or BMS firmware.
